See that black rectangular thing at the bottom of the window? That`s one of those moving LED matrix message-board signs that you see all over the place, in shops and places like that. I picked it up cheaply that year, having always liked them- as a child I would stare at them for ages. And as I mentioned on the previous page, I counted each and every one of those LEDs towards the total number of lights- got me significantly closer to my goal of 2000 lights, even if it was cheating a bit.

Outside, around and below the wndow, is a classic British outdoor set. These large-bulb lights get used commonly in town centres and once were popular among home decorators too, although in days gone by there were very few people who put lights up outside. Back then, these were all we had that you could use outside, and being big and expensive, probably put most people off. The more recent introduction of significantly cheaper and safer low voltage miniature lights and medium-sized series wired mains sets have done wonders to British decorating- we`re catching up with the States, even if only slowly.....
