I had wanted to use those large, colourful lantern lights for many years and got my opportunity in 1998. They are classic British mains powered outdoor lights and are still used quite commonly, though less so on private houses these days due to their quite high cost compared to LV miniature sets.
In the bottom right of this picture is the light sensor switch that kept the lights off during hours of daylight. A simple home-made device using a light dependant resistor, transistor and relay combination, plus some status LEDs on the front which helped me when setting its sensitivity- the one on the left changed colour from red to green when it activated.
You may also see that part of the right hand tree-shape in the window is not lit. A broken wire on the back had caused 12 of its LEDs to go out and I didn`t notice until after taking these shots.
