The lighting effect in the bottom right window...
A final touch of originallity in this year came from my unorthodox use of a bit of disco-lighting. This "moonflower" projector effect shines a multitude of slowly rotating beams, I had it set up on a microphone stand and aimed at the back of the blinds. I taped a 2-part yellow and blue filter over the front to give this colouring effect. Originally this light had a faster motor in it- the beams whizzed round so fast they blurred into circular streaks, so I replaced it with a similar sized motor out of an old microwave oven, that turned at about 1/10th the speed- looked much better like that.
Unfortunately the light turned out not to be rated for continuous use, overheated and shut down after just a couple hours with the stock 50w Xenon lamp, so I replaced it with a lower powered 20w one and changed the filter to a paler colour to make up for the dimmer output, with much better results- it didn`t overheat after then.
