Despite the fact that there were not that many actual bulbs, the light sets in the bushes and those round the front door area all needed a cable of their own to supply them- a variety of voltages and currents were needed by all those low voltage outdoor lights. This is one big drawback of European low voltage lights- the requirement of each outdoor mini set to have a transformer means that, unless you can somehow run them all from one great big one, you get rows and rows of little plug-in transformers indoors, and miles and miles of little thin cables outdoors!
