The webcam returned for 2001. Housed in the same box, that was about all it had in common with the previous year`s setup. The camera inside was a different one which wasn`t quite as good as the original, but the original had ceased to work so I had little choice. The box was located on the side of the garage but a bit closer to the house due to the fact that there were a load of light-trees on the roof. The software on the end of its interconnecting cable was different too. At the start of 2000 I manually grabbed a still-shot once per day, manually uploaded it and manually edited my small web page that I had at the time, to acomodate the new image. In the latter part of 2000 as well as maintaining my manual efforts, I used a live streaming system. It was such a drain on my very limited system`s resources, and took so much effort to keep it running that, although it was quite fun, I felt it wasn`t worth the effort. For 2001 I tracked down a better system and finally came accross a system that could grab and upload a still-shot at regular timed intervals, and required no input from me, other than remembering to turn the silly thing on in the morning. It worked well. I didn`t, reguarly forgetting to start it before leaving for work! But I did get it going every day to see the lights glowing after dark- the most important time after all!
The result of my manual still-taking in 2000 was a folder full of saved pictures showing the display on almost every day of the season- all of which are avaliable in the 2000 section, and I felt like producing a similar thing in 2001. So I just saved one or two of those auto-uploaded stills, which are now presented below for your enjoyment. 2001`s season was largely uneventful- no bad weather, no real technical difficulties, unfortunately no Snow either, but those lights did look good, many said it was the best ever! I know I was pleased with the result.
For now, unlike the previous year, there are no descriptions accompanying the pictures. These will be added at a later date.
